Welcome to the blog!

A year ago today I announced I was brushing off my camera to come out of retirement and photograph weddings again. I tell the story behind the decision here. I had some of my dearest friends / former clients share the news, too, and it was an outpouring of love my heart still treasures 365 days later!

The response to my return to photography was immediate, helping get me over the hump of fresh self-employment (aka no guarantee of steady income anymore, especially after having just paid for a wedding ) and putting dates on my calendar I could look forward to for months.

Things went a bit more slowly as the new year rolled around and I had to train my will to trust the Lord over and over, remembering that He’s never let me down before and, since all discernment still pointed to sticking with this business, that He would provide. It was stretching, refining, and liberating to navigate money and mission and marriage all at once.

My husband has been my biggest cheerleader. At first, when I was still coming out of my depression, Brandon encouraged me to do the minimum of what needed to be done. That season called for it, but now he adds on to my crazy ideas, encouraging me to go big when I think maybe I should take a step back. It has been an incredible gift to dream with him!

My goal right out of the gate was to book 12 weddings for 2019. It happened (and is underway – wedding season ain’t over for me yet!) and, as of now, I have nine weddings booked for 2020 and will only be accepting six more! I want to be fully present to each of my couples, helping them navigate engagement and wedding planning and marriage prep and all the things, so I’m capping my calendar at 15 weddings in 2020!

The other reason for the cap is that while I’m not making any announcements today, you can bet on some announcements coming soon!! God and I’ve got big plans for where to go next and I’m so excited to see where it all goes!

Thank you so much for your support, encouragement, hugs, kind words – I’m so grateful to be rolling past this one year mark since I announced I was doing a “new, old thing.” The dreaming has only just begun!
