2014.
The year that I began in prayer. Left my 9-5. Fell in love. Flew to Santa Barbara. Helped coordinate this film project. Got mono. Launched this blog. Realized I had different expectations. Helped at my high school’s grade 12 retreat. Witnessed a little baby angel pass away. Listened to the Holy Spirit. Turned twenty-freaking-threeeeee! Felt restless. Realized how much I loved summer. Congratulated my best friend on her engagement!! Started business coaching. Travelled to the prairies. Dreamt up the idea of a women’s group. Hosted Showiteers in my home. Housesat for dear friends in the big city. Photographed 12 (!!!) weddings. Asked God who He made me to be. Finished business coaching. Launched my new website. Launched this blog again. Was overwhelmed by the response to “date yourself.” Had a zillion coffee dates. Learned how to open my heart to the world. Became bold with my words. Asked to photograph Rise Up. Felt like a true Canadian in the Calgary cold. Ended the year with my camera in my hands thanking God with every fibre of my being for the year that was behind me.
These are my favourite images from all the men & women who asked me to be part of their lives last year. Weddings, engagements, & some sessions just as an everyday celebration of love.
I’m honoured to be part of all your lives. I thank God for each of you for inviting me into these intimate moments, the ones where I got to see how you respect, cherish, encourage, & serve each other in the best ways you know how. The ones where your mamas have shed tears & your dads have held you tighter than ever before during their dance with you. The ones where your friends have hooted & hollered as they celebrated you as kickass individuals & one helluva team as a couple. The ones where I got to see how deep your love goes when it was just us & the sunset behind you two, breathing deeply & holding each other close.
I’ve learned so much about love by being part of your lives. I’m praying for all of you & I hope it’s not too audacious for me to ask you to pray for me, too. Thank you thank you thank you.
What a year you were, 2014.
