Emma,

The devil’s plan A in life is to make you settle, but you, my dear, are not one to give in so easily.

You are a fighter. Some would call it stubbornness – including yourself – but the truth is that you fiercely champion for the important things in life. These are the things that are hard to maintain, that force you to get your hands & heart messy, that can cause deep heartache, but that can also bring an equally great capacity for joy: friends, family, friends you call family. Not to mention school, getting through semester after semester in pursuit of the bigger dream of the dietetics program at UBC.

You do not settle for mediocrity in anything and you do not abandon the things you hold close to your heart.

This moment, this day that you begin your marriage, is made more beautiful by the fight it took you to get here.

And you are a fighter.

Allan, clearly Emma has not settled with you. You both think you’re marrying up – and that’s how it should be. Emma will always fight for you and all the days you vowed to be together.

You are the kind of man a woman prays will come into her best friend’s life. You have never stopped pursuing her, actively showing her love in big ways, yes, but most importantly, in the small every day decisions to choose her above everything else.

PS. A HUGE thank you to Wendy of Ciao Bella Photography for taking lead when I needed to get ready/be Emma’s MOH. It was such a relief to know my best friend’s wedding day was in such good hands when I couldn’t have a camera in mine! Basically as soon as you see a photo of me, that’s when Wendy took over with the girls & at the church & for the entire bridal party photos (plus the bridesmaids)!

AND mad props to Liz (#hughesanintern) for second shooting like the CHAMP she is & being my main girl during the reception. This girl is legit, y’all. I got to enjoy dinner & toasts because I knew my queen of guest candids was on point. I also made her jump in for the bouquet toss… ;)
