Joy is not circumstantial. It comes from a deep place, from knowing Jesus in a way that makes Him real in the every day normal things of life. The peace joy brings is evident no matter the circumstances we’re in. When circumstances change – for good or bad – that joy helps us know God is good no matter what.
These two get that. They were beautifully at peace on their wedding day: a happy, carefree, best-kind-of-circumstances day. Matthew & Julie were excited & hopeful for their future together, while thanking everyone for contributing to their pasts.
Their joy is from that deep place, the place only the Father can reach, and the confidence that comes from believing in something – someone, really – bigger than themselves gives them confidence. Confidence to say yes to God’s invitation to bigger & better things. Confidence to say yes to loving another imperfect human being because they know they’re imperfect, too.
Confidence to say yes to this big thing called marriage.
Matt & Julie, you’re one of a kind & it was a delight to be with you guys as you began your marriage. Plus, y’all are wicked on the dance floor & I loved being pulled in for a dance with you, Matt!! Thank you for bringing Liz & I out for your wedding!
