Welcome to the blog!

During the afternoon break, while Amber & Aurélien had a Zoom call with his family all around the world, I sat with the bridesmaids and we talked about how the newlyweds got to this day. Kate, Amber’s sister, shared her perspective on Amber & Aurelien’s fast-paced relationship, reflecting on how God speaks and works in everyone’s life so differently.

It’s easy to look at people who meet and get married in quick succession that they’re rushing into things, but if we step back and look at the bigger picture? We might just see years and years and YEARS of God moving in and refining the lives of those two people to prepare them to meet each other and enter their Vocation to marriage right away. God works outside of calendar time, after all ;)

Amber & Aurélien had a fast paced relationship from day one. He pursued intentionally and Amber noticed, opening her hands to the gift God was trying to give her. They had deep conversations, worked through the tough stuff, and decided to trust that this was the real deal – so why wait??

Their wedding day was nothing like they dreamed it would be because of the state of things in 2020 – Aurélien’s family in Cameroon, the US, and France (to name a few places!) couldn’t make it. Amber’s family and friends from Saskatchewan watched the live stream. The big community that would’ve been present, the simple lunch friends were going to cater – everything turned out different than they wanted. But the peace? The joy? The DONUTS? It all came together to be something so beautiful and holy and worthy of celebration.

The whole day was full of connection and redemption and we laughed our eyelashes off in celebration of it all. Amber & Aurélien, your marriage is going to do magnificent things in the world. Thanks for having me with you to document day one!

Happy honeymooning you two!! In the words of your friend Frances, I wish you twins!!
