Yeah man it sucks trying to be open after being disappointed & led on & confused every time before.

If we only ever prepare for the worst, the best might slip by because we’re covering our eyes & heart to being hurt, being used, being walked all over, but we can’t selectively choose what we allow past our guard.

When we block those painful things, we’re also blocking the joy, the peace, the fulfillment that can come from sharing life so intimately with someone else.

It’s a huge effin risk to be open!

And even if they’re the person you end up choosing forever, they’re still gonna disappoint you.

And you’ll disappoint them.

But the reward of growing & being seen & loved is much better than never allowing them to disappoint you.
