“If we are not willing to take chances,
if we are not willing to occasionally take some risks, then we won’t get very far ahead in life.
In fact, we could lose everything that was intended for us.
So there are times in life when we are called to be daring.”
Amen, Father Paul. Amen.
Choosing one person to love for the rest of your life is one pretty daring adventure.
Choosing one person to let into your heart, even if it’s been broken before. Choosing one person to experience life with, knowing you’re both imperfect and will probably hurt each other, but saying yes anyway. Choosing one person beyond their shortcomings, beyond rolling eyes at lame jokes, beyond the other leaving the empty roll of toilet paper out.
Choosing to be sanctified instead of annoyed.
Choosing love over and over and over. Being all in when it’s easy and when it’s hard. Not loving in spite of the sacrifice, but because the sacrifice is worth it.
That choice means trusting that God has your back. Being uncertain about what life has in store, but certain that God is good. Acknowledging fear of the unknown, and walking through the fear anyway.
Choosing to be fearless.
That’s what Ben & Megan did on Saturday.
They chose to be fearless, trusting God wholeheartedly. Giving themselves to each other completely.
Ben brings the energy in every room up by about 10 notches just by stepping through the doors – it’s one of the zillion reasons so many people love him. He is confident and boldly says yes to God day after day.
Megan is a woman who doesn’t let people go unnoticed. She sees you. Her smile is always encouraging, her arms always open for a hug that melts your fears away, as if God is embracing you through her gentle touch. Her faith comes from a deep well of hope, ever-increasing in depth.
They complement each other,
bringing out each other’s strengths and encouraging growth even if it’s uncomfortable.
They never settle, and the joy from their pursuit of holiness is tangible.
They are the church living & breathing love into the world.
They are generation changers.
Ben & Megan, it’s an honour to be your friend.
